An adventure into the Harry Potter world that you will never expect.

Do you recognize these staircases? Remember the Philosopher’s Stone, when Minerva McGonagall walks the first year students up to the Dining Hall for the Sorting Ceremony? These are just those stairs, with our Harry, Ron, and Hermione, about to become Gryffindor new members.
Oxford is known to be a town of great inspiration to the Harry Potter world and movies.
This university town is in the county of Oxfordshire, just one hour train north of London. It is pretty easy and quick to decide to go there and have an amazing day trip.
If you are a Harry Potter fan like I am, this town will be your little magic paradise, a quick escape from the real world.
In London, you have the Warner Bros Studios of Harry Potter, but if you want to do something alternative, Oxford is really the perfect choice.

Christ Church College, courtyard

The courtyard that you see here is inside the Christ Church College. A lot of the scenes filmed in the film were created thanks to this place, to help put on the big screen what JK Rowling had in her mind.
That’s why the Christ Church College could be a great first stop on your visit. You will have to pay a ticket to go inside, and it is worth every pound, or maybe you are a student in this college and let me say that you are the luckiest person ever.
In the photo below you see the “real” Great Hall, where the film producers got the inspiration and recreated the Great Hall that we can see in the movies.
When I entered these doors I felt in another world and it was wicked.
Take the time to look at these photos and feel inside of them for a moment.

The Great Hall that inspired the magic Great Hall
Christ Church College

Long tables, pictures and high windows on the walls. Hundreds of students talking about how excited they are to start a new year at Hogwarts. This is what I was thinking about while walking down this room.
Unfortunately, there was no food, no plates full of amazing food, maybe next time!
The magic was still so powerful here.

Do I really need to talk? I think these pictures can talk for themselves.
I didn’t even know that this place existed. I came to London and I started learning about the amazing towns all around it.
Oxford was my second day trip out of town and I am so glad I decided to take the train to this magic place.
This photo above shows one of the courtyards of the college. It looks so much like the castle that it is really hard to realize you are not in a secret school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Bodleian Library

The Bodleian Library that you see in the photo above is also famous in the Harry Potter world for many reasons.
This is a close-up photo, that can maybe remind you of a couple scenes.
One of them could be the Infirmary. Imagine lots of beds on both sides, not this furniture, and you will know what I mean!
Inside the Bodleian Library, you can also get to visit the library where they filmed the Philosopher’s Stone scene where Harry enters the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library, with his Invisibility Cloak on, looking for some helpful book about Nicholas Flamel. Unfortunately, no pictures allowed inside, but I still enjoyed the tour, surrounded by 400 hundred years old books, walking the same steps Harry walked. I have a weak spot for books and libraries so you can imagine how thrilled I was to be there.

Radcliffe Camera

I am saying “see you next time” with this last photo. It is a really simple one, but it makes me smile and dream.
Hope you liked this little adventure in the Hogwarts world as much as I did.
Love you.
Take care.
